The soundtrack of Jhootha Hi Sahi brings together the distinctive musical vision of A. R. Rahman and the lyrical writing of filmmaker Abbas Tyrewala. Directed by Tyrewala and starring John Abraham and Pakhi Tyrewala, the film’s music features an impressive lineup of vocalists, including Rashid Ali, Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam, Javed Ali, Chinmayi Sripada, Karthik and Vijay Yesudas. The collaboration gives the album a varied sound while maintaining a cohesive musical identity.
Rahman explores a mix of contemporary pop, melodic romance and Indian influences throughout the album. Songs such as “Cry Cry” and “Call Me Dil” offer catchy, accessible melodies, while “Do Nishaniyan” brings a more reflective and emotional quality. “Maiyya Yashoda” adds a playful, folk-inspired touch. Abbas Tyrewala’s lyrics complement the compositions with a blend of romantic expression, lightheartedness and introspection.
The vocal performances are one of the album’s strongest features. Rashid Ali brings a distinctive character to “Cry Cry” and “Call Me Dil,” while Shreya Ghoshal adds warmth and elegance to her songs. Sonu Nigam delivers the emotional depth of “Do Nishaniyan,” and Javed Ali and Chinmayi Sripada bring an engaging energy to “Maiyya Yashoda.” Karthik and Vijay Yesudas also make memorable contributions with their individual vocal styles.
Overall, Jhootha Hi Sahi is an enjoyable and thoughtfully crafted soundtrack that showcases A. R. Rahman’s versatility. Its mix of catchy melodies, romantic compositions and expressive vocals makes it a rewarding listen, even if a few tracks take time to grow on the listener. The album’s variety and musical personality make it stand out. Rating: 8/10.
