The Shukriya soundtrack is an interesting collaboration between Himesh Reshammiya, Vishal-Shekhar, Devendra-Yogendra and Raju Rao, with Sameer providing the lyrics throughout the principal song collection. The vocal lineup is equally impressive, featuring Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, KK, Sunidhi Chauhan and a young Shreya Ghoshal. Their music supports Anupam Sinha’s romantic drama, led by Anupam Kher, Aftab Shivdasani and Shriya Saran.

The compositions move between romantic melodies, emotional ballads and more upbeat arrangements. Himesh Reshammiya brings his recognizable melodic approach to songs such as “Tumhe Jitna Bhulate Hain,” “Kya Haal Hai Mere Is Dil Ka” and “Tumhara Tumhara,” while Vishal-Shekhar provide a contrasting contemporary sound on “Aankhon Aankhon Mein,” “Maine Poochha Kudrat Se” and “Dil Ai Dil.” Devendra-Yogendra add a more celebratory quality to “Ni Soniye,” while Sameer’s lyrics keep the album focused on love, separation and emotional relationships.

The vocal performances are one of the soundtrack’s strongest elements. Sonu Nigam brings emotional depth to “Tumhe Jitna Bhulate Hain” and “Leti Hai Yeh Zindagi,” while Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik work naturally together on the romantic numbers. Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal add warmth to “Maine Poochha Kudrat Se,” while KK and Sunidhi Chauhan bring youthful energy to “Aankhon Aankhon Mein.” The ensemble performance on “Ni Soniye,” featuring Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal, gives the album one of its livelier moments.

Overall, Shukriya is a varied early-2000s soundtrack that benefits considerably from its strong composers, accomplished singers and Sameer’s straightforward romantic writing. The album has several appealing melodic moments, although the multiple-composer approach makes its musical identity somewhat uneven. The combination of romance, melancholy and lighter dance-oriented material makes it an enjoyable period soundtrack. Rating: 6/10.
